“Love at First Sight”, exhibited as part of Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2019″
Fipsi Seilern is a London based visual artist working across several mediums. Motivated by her own questions around human behaviour, her work draws on both current and historic references, exploring themes such as groupthink, identity, religion and idealism. Her studio practice emerges through extensive online research and a prolific body of drawings and paintings. In her 2016 series Too Many Kings, glorified warriors battle each other and followers of notorious 70’s cult leader Jim Jones crowd around for a sip of Kool-aid. Her drawing of a mass wedding ceremony practiced by members of the Unification Church in Korea was exhibited at the 2018 RA Summer Exhibition. Other projects include public interventions under the pseudonym PANG, through which Seilern creates an ongoing dialogue between street art and classical art. Born in London in 1984, Seilern attended the Charles Cecil painting atelier in Florence, and has exhibited in London, Berlin, New York, Vienna, Murcia and Stockholm.
